About

PadmeWeddingDress was started by Nancy, a seamstress with a background in cosplay.

After completing her certificate in custom clothing, Nancy began to make custom cosplays for fans. People would submit pictures to her of characters from anime, video games, and movies, and she would turn the artwork into a tangile, wearable costume. A lot of effort went into each piece, every pattern had to be drafted from scratch and pieced together carefully to finally form a real life garment that was based on 2D compositions.

One of her favorites was Padme's wedding dress. The details, the drape, the beauty of it, Nancy was determined to replicate it as accurate as possible as a seamstress and a Star Wars fan. Hours and hours and days went into only just the research and draft: Nancy studied every photo, screenshot, video, gif, sketch, angle, anything she could find, and drafted and sketched and planned. Then next was the pattern phase where she drafted patterns to match the cut of the dress and the additional pieces that make up the dress. Details were next and were the bulk of the labor: many details had to be carefully added or handsewn one by one. Weeks of research and sewing went into the dress, but it was worth it, the final product was immaculate and worthy of a Star Wars wedding dress. It drew enough attention for two others to request it (one who wore it to her own wedding).

After a few years, Nancy decided to go into other ventures and stopped making cosplay costumes. Most patterns were discarded, but Nancy could never bring herself to toss away all the Padme wedding dress patterns and work, and decided to keep it. For the past several years Nancy applied her geekiness into cosplay hoodies: hoodies based on anime and video game characters, and continues to handsew her work. And yet, she still thought fondly from time to time of the preeminent dress pattern that was safely tucked away.

Nancy finally decided to dust off the patterns and motifs, and bring it back into full production. With a background in custom clothing, Nancy put together patterns that would be suitable for most female figures, and adjusted the details to look gorgeous from every angle. She procured the finest materials from her vendors, and began to sew. One of the most dazzling replicas of Padme's wedding dress is now available for all, brides, cosplayers, and fans alike.
